Overview

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) and its various centers have developed and implemented a range of clinical treatments, mental health interventions, and trauma-informed practices as a means of promoting the Network’s mission of raising the standard of care and increasing access to services for children and families who most need them. The Intervention Fact Sheets offer key information related to some of the interventions developed and used by members of the NCTSN. This list does not include every intervention that may be helpful for children and families nor is it a clearinghouse which evaluates the level or quality of evidence shared. However, it is a starting point for exploring different trauma-informed interventions designed to help individuals, families, communities, and organizations heal from childhood traumatic stress. We intentionally reconstructed the template to honor both evidence-based practice and other forms of knowing.

Each fact sheet provides information about:

  • the model,
  • its evidence,
  • adaptability and accessibility, and
  • providing, supervising, training, and sustaining the model

Please note that deciding the right intervention for the right person or organization at the right time is much more nuanced than the information on this page. We hope the Intervention Fact Sheets lead to further conversations with intervention providers, trainers, and/or developers as you or your community decide what intervention may best meet your needs. The first two pages provide an overview of the model that may be of interest to a wide audience. The remaining four pages support implementation practice. Communities can save significant time, resources, and energy in the long-term by exploring the right fit in advance. NCTSN funded sites and Affiliates can also request thought partnership for intervention implementation by emailing training@nctsn.org

We also acknowledge that there are many other interventions used to support community healing that may not yet be included on this particular webpage. Feel free to learn more about reasons for reconstructing this fact sheet process and how to submit a new intervention by emailing training@nctsn.org
